I’m working on behalf of an E-Commerce scale up who are seeking a Head of Finance to join the team as their first in house finance professional. Having recently gone through a successful fundraise round, they see 2025 as a year of growth, including internationally. This person will help aid the strategic direction of the business, looking at market expansion, new product launches and scaling the team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead financial control & reporting, including month-end reporting.
  2. Produce Management Information for the board.
  3. Drive financial planning & analysis, managing budgeting and forecasting processes, and building financial models to support various projects.
  4. Provide commercial and strategic support to CEO to aid the companies growth ambitions.
  5. Model market expansion opportunities and ROI.
  6. Manage vendor relationships, including negotiating payment terms, inventory control, and COGS-related functions.
  7. Provide detailed analysis of supplier accounts and assist in resolving discrepancies.
  8. Continuously improve processing team controls for accuracy and efficiency.
  9. Handle quarterly VAT returns.
  10. Supervise AP & AR functions to ensure the timely processing of invoices and expenses, supporting our accountants with month-end activities.
  11. Oversee weekly supplier payments, ensuring prompt processing of all invoices.
  12. Review payroll monthly, including pension contributions.
  13. Support the team with queries and ensure clear communication of responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  1. Fully qualified (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA).
  2. Intimate knowledge of and experience with UK accounting practices is necessary. US and other regions are a bonus.
  3. Strong background in inventory-based businesses (e.g., retail, eCommerce).
  4. Experience in both finished goods and manufacturing finance is a plus.
  5. Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  6. Enthusiastic, passionate, and results-driven.
  7. Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  8. Proactive, with a knack for taking ownership of significant responsibilities.
