Hill & Hill are actively seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to spearhead a new Building Surveying Department at an internationally renowned consultancy firm specialising in Project Management, Cost Consultancy, Interior Design, and Development Management. This is a senior leadership position based in the heart of Central London, providing an incredible opportunity to shape and develop a core department from the ground up.
About the Role:
As the Head of Building Surveying, you will be responsible for establishing and growing a new department that will complement our existing services. You will be devising strategic plans, recruiting and building your own team, and establishing operational frameworks that align with the firm’s overall vision. This role will give you the autonomy to define the department’s direction, including shaping service offerings, driving business development, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects.
You will collaborate with other senior leaders across our existing disciplines of Project Management, Cost Consultancy, and Interior Design to offer integrated solutions for our luxury clients in the hospitality, commercial, residential, and education sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Department Leadership: Develop and lead the Building Surveying Department, setting the strategic direction and overseeing all operational activities.
- Team Development: Build and manage a high-performing team of surveyors, mentoring junior staff and fostering professional development.
- Business Development: Drive the department’s growth by establishing strong relationships with new and existing clients, and delivering high-quality consultancy services.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Cost Consultants, Interior Designers, and Development Managers to deliver holistic solutions across sectors.
- Project Oversight: Oversee and manage building surveying projects from inception through to completion, ensuring adherence to client requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Client Relations: Act as a trusted advisor to luxury clients, understanding their unique needs and delivering tailored, high-end solutions.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure all surveying activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and quality assurance protocols.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Chartered status (MRICS) or equivalent, with extensive experience in building surveying, ideally in the luxury consultancy sector.
- Proven experience leading a team or department, with a track record of success in business development and client relationship management.
- In-depth knowledge of the hospitality, commercial, residential, and education sectors.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build a team and shape a department.
