An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to join a leading global company in Clevedon. Role Overview

Reporting to the Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Manager, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and commissioning of electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation for industrial projects. This role includes supporting field trials, adhering to engineering best practices, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to clarify design requirements and develop cost-effective, standards-compliant products.
  • Assist in resolving engineering issues by analysing problems and proposing solutions, escalating complex matters to senior engineers as needed.
  • Support the design and development of product systems/subsystems, ensuring compliance with safety standards, type testing, and modularity principles.
  • Contribute to project planning, manage work priorities, and monitor progress to meet timelines while addressing obstacles.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including manuals, build notes, and service instructions.
  • Conduct tests and support factory/field issue resolution under senior engineer guidance.
  • Contribute ideas to improve controls engineering practices and adopt new technologies.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • HND (or equivalent) or degree in a relevant technical discipline (e.g., electrical, instrumentation, controls, or software).
  • Extensive experience in controls and software within relevant industries.
  • Basic experience in product design and development for electrical controls and instrumentation in a related engineering industry.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming (e.g., ladder logic, structured text, function blocks), basic HMI programming (e.g., VB.net), and communication protocols like Modbus.
  • Knowledge of P&ID diagrams, electrical schematics, PID loops, and technical documentation.
  • Understanding of compliance-driven industries and standards such as Low Voltage Directive (EN/UL61010, EN60204), EMC Directive (EN(phone number removed), or Functional Safety standards (SIL ratings, EN 61508).
