Design Director Location: London Salary: £50-65,000 (dependent on experience) Reference: SFLON487 A leading real estate and development company is looking to appoint an exceptional Design Director to join its dynamic and expanding team. With a robust pipeline of sustainable, design-focused urban regeneration projects across the UK and Europe, this role presents an exciting opportunity to influence and shape landmark schemes that prioritise innovation, wellbeing, and environmental stewardship. The successful Design Director will lead and coordinate the design process across multiple large-scale, mixed-use and residential-led developments – guiding projects from early concept stages through to delivery. You will work closely with both internal teams and external consultants, the Design Director will be responsible for maintaining design integrity, ensuring technical excellence, and aligning design outcomes with the company's strategic vision. Skills, Experience and Responsibilities for the role of Design Director: Qualified Architect (ARB registered) or Chartered Architectural Technologist (CIAT). Proven experience in leading large-scale, mixed-use or residential projects. Strong technical knowledge, including up-to-date understanding of UK Building Regulations. Outstanding design detailing and construction documentation capabilities. Demonstrated ability to manage teams, workflows, and external consultants effectively. Experience in Build-to-Rent (BTR), co-living, or student accommodation is highly advantageous. Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills. A deep commitment to sustainable, people-first design principles. Lead the design process across multiple high-profile projects. Oversee concept development, planning, and delivery phases.
