Position Summary
To meet and exceed customer needs and expectations by ensuring successful and timely processing of customer import transactions.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Customs Broker License or CCS certificate required.
- 5+ years experience in air & ocean customhouse brokerage.
- Strong knowledge of CBP rules and regulations.
- Strong knowledge of the HTS and commodity classification.
- Strong knowledge of various transportation modes including air freight, LCL, FCL, domestic trucking, and rail movements.
- Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills.
- General knowledge of geography and international transactions related to the forwarding industry.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in office computer skills – email, internet, Microsoft Office.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Process the entire import brokerage transaction, including opening files, communicating with clients and service providers, and monitoring shipments from origin to final destination.
- Coordinate transportation with overseas agents and domestic partners.
- Resolve transportation and brokerage issues, including handling claims and acting as an intermediary between trucking, international providers, airlines, steamship lines, Customs, and other agencies.
- Provide prompt, courteous, and proactive customer service.
- Ensure prompt billing to customers.
- Seek opportunities to promote the company and generate additional business.
