Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their engineering team in Northamptonshire. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing business offering a varied role, competitive salary and long-term career prospects. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, fault finding and repairing a wide range of production and plant equipment, whilst supporting continuous improvement and engineering projects across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Fault finding and maintenance on:
- Production machinery and associated control systems
- PLC and computer-controlled systems
- Plant services and their control systems
- Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance on:
- Process systems
- Safety systems
- Electrical distribution systems
- Testing electrical installations using a range of test and measurement equipment
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
- Assisting with the design, installation and commissioning of electrical control systems
- Managing small engineering projects from concept through to completion
Candidate Requirements
- Hold a recognised Electrical Apprenticeship, BTEC, City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification
- Have experience servicing and repairing a diverse range of industrial equipment
- Possess excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
- Be competent in reading electrical drawings and symbols
- Be experienced in the use of electrical testing equipment
- Have experience working with:
- PLCs
- Variable Speed Drives (VSDs)
- Soft starters
- Weighing equipment
- Sensors
- Process control systems
- Have experience carrying out planned and preventative maintenance activities
Desirable Experience
- Experience with Mitsubishi and/or Siemens PLC systems and software
- Multi-skilled engineering experience with mechanical and pneumatic knowledge
- Electrical inspection and testing qualifications
- Previous experience within the food manufacturing sector
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 07:30 - 17:30
- One-hour lunch break
- Daily hours include:
- 7.5 hours paid at basic rate
- 1.5 hours paid at time and a half
On-Call and Overtime Requirements
Following a satisfactory probationary period of up to six months, engineers participate in an on-call rota system, usually 1 x week in 6 with the option to work nights during their call-out week. Applicants must be willing to:
- Participate in the on-call rota
- Work weekend overtime when required
- Support out-of-hours breakdown cover
