Our client, a well-established and successful manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team in Northamptonshire. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production equipment, plant machinery, and site services to ensure maximum operational efficiency and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Fault finding, servicing, and repair of production machinery and plant equipment
- Maintenance of machine drive mechanisms and rotating machinery
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and process systems
- Maintenance and testing of plant services and site facilities
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults efficiently
- Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical documentation
- Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures
Requirements
- Recognised engineering qualification such as Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, BTEC, City & Guilds, or equivalent industry experience
- Proven experience within a manufacturing, production, or industrial maintenance environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with:
- Conveyors
- Elevators
- Grinders
- Weighing equipment
- Rotating machinery
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
- Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities
Desirable Skills
- Multi-skilled engineer with mechanical bias and electrical fault-finding experience
- Pneumatics experience
- Previous experience within the food manufacturing industry
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 07:30 - 17:30
- 1-hour lunch break
- Daily overtime included:
- 7.5 hours paid at basic rate
- 1.5 hours paid at 1.5x overtime rate
Following a successful probation period (maximum 6 months), engineers participate in an on-call rota, typically one week in six, with the option to work night shifts during call-out weeks. Please note: Applicants must be willing to participate in on-call rotas and work weekend overtime when required.
