Engineering Team Leader – Day Shift (Food Manufacturing)

I’m currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established food manufacturing business for an experienced Engineering Team Leader to join their site in Corby. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive, hands-on leader with strong experience in food or FMCG environments, who can drive performance, develop teams, and ensure high standards in a fast-paced production setting.

The Role

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Engineering Team to deliver high performance.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day engineering operations, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Conduct 1:1s, appraisals, and structured development plans for your team.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and food safety compliance.
  • Oversee the Engineering Workshop, contractors, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Carry out and support reactive and preventative maintenance (mechanical & electrical).
  • Fault finding on PLCs, alongside installations, repairs, and project work.
  • Support training initiatives and upskill the team.
  • Manage spare parts, maintenance planning, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Deliver against KPIs across Quality, Cost, Delivery, Health & Safety, and Hygiene.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment (essential).
  • Strong background in mechanical and electrical maintenance engineering.
  • Experience with PLC fault finding.
  • A confident leader with experience managing teams, conducting 1:1s and appraisals.
  • Ability to drive team performance and engagement.
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Experience managing contractors.
  • Welding, fabrication, or fitting experience (desirable).
