Day in the Life of an Outpatient Staff Pharmacist. Outpatient Staff Pharmacists play a crucial role in clinical service by ensuring accurate drug therapy and patient education, focusing on safe medication practices and efficacy. They prepare, compound, and dispense medications while also managing patient medication profiles to optimize treatment and reduce risks. This role involves constant interaction and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to advise on pharmacotherapy and adjust treatments based on patient needs and responses. At Cuyuna Lakes Pharmacy, our team consists of two pharmacists and four technicians on staff each day, fostering a highly collaborative and supportive environment for practicing pharmacy.
Pharmacists also support the pharmaceutical department by adhering to legal requirements, training staff, and maintaining inventory and records. Workdays include direct patient consultation, medication management, and ongoing professional education to stay current with medical and pharmacological developments.

In the retail pharmacies located within Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s main campus and the Super One grocery store in Crosby, we provide convenient, community-focused medication services that ensure patients receive the prescriptions, education, and support they need to stay healthy. Our pharmacy is more than just a place to pick up medications - it’s a trusted resource for expert guidance, personalized counseling, and preventative care. Whether filling prescriptions, administering vaccines, or helping patients manage complex medication regimens, we are committed to making healthcare easier, safer, and more accessible for every person we serve. We work in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and attention to detail are critical, ensuring that every prescription is filled correctly and that patients understand how to take their medications safely. Our team collaborates with providers, insurance companies, and patient support services to navigate medication approvals, provide cost-saving alternatives, and remove barriers to care. Qualifications:
- Education and Experience Required:
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certificate or obtain within 45 days of hire
- Graduate from an accredited college of pharmacy on or after May 1996
- Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Minnesota
- Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or Bachelors of Science Degree or equivalent
- Preferred:
- Previous working experience as a staff pharmacist in a retail setting
Compensation and Benefits. The pay range listed above is the estimated starting pay range for this role. Actual pay rate offered depends on many factors including each individual employee's experience level, preferred education/certifications, along with market conditions.
