Contract: Permanent

We’re on a mission to give everyone affordable access to a car anytime, anywhere. We offer short-term car insurance through our world-class app, creating truly flexible products that meet people’s real needs. Using lightning-fast technology to unlock better experiences and fairer prices for our customers, Cuvva is building the future of insurance every day.

Cuvva was the first to sell hourly insurance via an app in the UK back in 2016. We’ve sold over 14 million policies, and supported over 1.5 million drivers and we’re just getting started. We’re hiring a Principal Product Manager to join our Core product team, the team responsible for Cuvva’s flagship short-term car insurance product and one of the company’s most commercially important product areas.

Core sits at the centre of the customer experience and directly influences some of the business’s most important metrics, including conversion, retention, revenue performance and customer satisfaction.

We’re looking for a highly autonomous product operator and builder: someone who can independently identify opportunities, deeply understand customer problems, navigate technical and commercial constraints, and continuously evolve a live revenue-generating product. This role requires strong product intuition, commercial judgement and comfort operating at pace within ambiguity. You’ll report to the Head of Product and work closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Pricing, Underwriting, Operations and Customer Support stakeholders.

Cuvva’s core product continues to scale rapidly, and incremental product improvements compound into meaningful commercial impact.

  • Conduct deep customer, competitor and market analysis to proactively shape the product roadmap and opportunity pipeline.
  • Work closely with Engineering and Product Design within a highly collaborative trio model to deliver high-quality mobile-first product experiences.
  • Balance experimentation and innovation with operational stability and commercial viability.
  • Collaborate closely with Pricing and Underwriting to understand how risk, pricing and portfolio performance influence product decisions.
  • Maintain high-quality product documentation and visibility across priorities, decisions and progress.

Significant experience owning mobile-first commercial product experiences end-to-end.

Strong product discovery capability, including customer research, competitor analysis and opportunity validation.

A strong commercial mindset and comfort balancing growth, customer experience, operational constraints and business outcomes.

Strong understanding of technical constraints, engineering trade-offs and modern product development environments.

Experience operating at Senior, Lead or Principal level within a product-led scale-up or technology company.

It’s a bonus if you:

  • Have worked closely with actuarial, pricing or underwriting teams and understand how risk appetite shapes product decisions.
  • Have experience scaling a core or flagship product line with measurable commercial impact.
  • Experience within insurance, InsurTech, FinTech, lending, healthtech or other regulated digital environments is strongly preferred, but deep product capability within modern product-led organisations is considered more important than direct insurance domain experience alone.

Candidates who understand insurance operations but lack strong experience building and evolving mobile-first consumer products are unlikely to be a good fit for this role.

As well as a competitive salary (£108k-£122k depending on experience), benefits of working at Cuvva include:

  • Very flexible WFH set up, we only ask folks to come in a couple of times a month for team strategy.
  • 20.5 days of holiday a year + public holidays - rising with each year at Cuvva (holidays have been prorated based on our 4DWW).
  • Quarterly team socials and company events.
  • Private medical insurance with Bupa.
  • Professional development budget.
  • Health, WFH and wellbeing budget.
  • Increases to all allowances year on year.
  • Enhanced parental leave and pay.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Mental Health and Coaching Support - We offer free and confidential access to comprehensive mental healthcare and coaching through Oliva.
  • Hundreds of perks and discounts with Perkbox.
  • £100 a month towards your Cuvva car insurance.
  • Referral bonus when you bring your friends to join the Cuvva team.

Stage 1: Initial chat with People team (60 mins). Final conversation with our CEO & Founder, Freddy (30 mins).

Our approach to hybrid working is very flexible: we only ask people to come a couple of times a month for team building or company events. You can of course come into the office as much as you like!

Diversity, inclusion and belonging at Cuvva: At Cuvva, we’re dedicated to building an environment where individuals from all walks of life feel a sense of belonging and have the support they need to thrive. Research shows that men apply to jobs if they meet ~60% of criteria, but women and those in traditionally underrepresented groups tend to apply only if they check all the boxes. We'd love to chat and see if you could be a great fit.
