About Customs Support Group
Customs Support Group (CSG) is Europe’s leading independent customs services provider. Founded in 1964, we operate in 14 European countries with 100+ offices and a team of 1,700+ customs professionals. We help companies move goods across borders smoothly and compliantly, taking the pressure out of customs.
What we do
We support more than 60,000 clients and process over 20 million declaration lines each year. From day‑to‑day customs declarations to compliance, duty optimization and trade advice, we make cross‑border trade easier and more predictable.
How we work
We combine local customs expertise with modern digital tools to handle large volumes accurately and at speed. Our technology helps teams work smarter, reduces manual effort, and improves turnaround times. In markets like the UK, this already led to clear productivity gains.
Why it matters
Customs rules are becoming more complex and mistakes are costly. Delays, compliance risks and unclear regulations can slow businesses down. CSG helps clients stay compliant, reduce risk and keep their supply chains moving.
Why Join Us
At CSG, you will be part of a growing international organization that is improving how customs work gets done. You will:
- Work with experienced customs professionals and technology teams
- Gain exposure to international trade and complex supply chains
- Contribute to services that have a real impact on global commerce
This is a chance to build a career in a stable but evolving industry, where expertise and good judgement still matter.
Purpose of the position
As an Inside Sales Representative at Customs Support Group, your primary objective is to support revenue growth by generating and qualifying leads, engaging potential customers, and managing a portfolio of existing small to medium‑size clients. This is not a static company and definitely not a dusty industry. Customs is moving fast, global trade never sleeps, and neither do opportunities.
Operating mainly through outbound calls and digital channels, you will be at the front line of new business. You will spot opportunities early, start real conversations with decision‑makers, and fuel the wider sales team with strong, well‑qualified prospects.
This role requires a proactive, energetic sales mindset. Around 50% of your time will focus on lead generation: cold calling, researching target companies, reviewing inbound marketing leads, and working closely with marketing on focused campaigns. The other 50% is about building and growing relationships with existing customers, delivering sharp service, spotting upsell opportunities, and making sure clients genuinely feel supported by Customs Support Group.
Main Responsibilities
- Drive new business through outbound calls and digital outreach, qualifying inbound and outbound leads and opening opportunities with prospective clients.
- Work closely with marketing on campaigns, researching target industries and companies to build and nurture a strong, relevant pipeline.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of small to medium‑size customers, delivering excellent service while identifying upsell and cross‑sell opportunities.
- Maintain accurate CRM records in Salesforce, tracking customer interactions, lead progress, and engagement metrics.
- Represent the company professionally in virtual meetings and occasional in‑person events, supporting brand presence and customer relationships.
- Monitor and report on lead generation, pipeline activity, and customer engagement, staying informed on industry trends to sharpen outreach.
- Engage prospects confidently using a consultative, needs‑focused sales approach.
- Manage time and priorities effectively across outreach, follow‑ups, and customer management.
- Take initiative in researching leads, understanding customer needs, and driving opportunities forward.
- Deliver consistent, high‑quality service to existing clients while supporting revenue growth.
- Ensure CRM data accuracy and visibility to support team alignment and performance.
What to Expect
- An office‑based role with Felixstowe as the preferred location. Other locations may be considered, including Langford, and London Gateway (Corringham).
- A fast‑moving, target‑driven environment where effort, energy, and results are noticed.
- Daily phone‑based outreach, CRM ownership, and close collaboration with sales and marketing.
- A supportive, ambitious team that treats customs as a strategic, high‑impact business, not a back‑office function.
- Occasional travel for meetings or training, with the role remaining primarily office‑based.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence stakeholders via phone, email, and virtual meetings.
- At least 2 years of experience in inside sales, telesales, lead qualification, or a similar commercial role.
- Proven ability to identify, qualify, and convert leads, with a commercial, proactive mindset focused on pipeline growth.
- Comfortable researching markets, nurturing prospects, and turning opportunities into results.
- Experience working with CRM systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar, including pipeline management and reporting.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Ownership mentality, taking responsibility for targets and consistently working towards agreed goals.
- A team player who values accountability, integrity, and collaboration while still owning personal performance.
