Purpose of Role: As a Production Operative you will work as part of a team to produce printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), supporting the efficient and high-quality production of goods within a manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for carrying out a range of hands-on production activities; day-to-day you will primarily focus on hand-soldering and machine operation tasks as well as supporting on testing and final product builds as required to ensure effective running of production and efficient product output. You will aim to deliver achievement of the production plan by ensuring material yield and equipment/machine availability is optimised. All our team members are responsible for ensuring the work they produce meets our highest quality standards, within set timelines and in accordance to company procedures.
The successful person will demonstrate a keen eye for detail, excellent teamwork and the ability to handle small hand tools and production equipment. Whilst previous Electronics experience is very beneficial, we are keen to hear from people who have experience within a similar manufacturing environment and transferable skills, which can add value to our business.
Key duties include, but are not limited to:
- Product Soldering and Assembly: Building products according to standard operating procedures, customer specifications and requirements. Hand soldering to IPC standards as required by product requirements. Complete PC-B cleaning processes.
- Machine Operation: Running and monitoring production and test equipment as per standard operating procedures.
- Product Testing: Utilising test equipment provided by customers to test finished boards.
- Packaging and Labelling: Supporting the packing team with packaging of finished products and adding labels to ensure shipping deadlines are achieved.
- Quality Standard Achievement: Identify and report product quality issues through CIL’s escalation procedure. Focused on detail with a ‘right first time’ attitude. Record production data that ensures full product traceability. Keeping work areas, including machinery, soldering and hand tool equipment, clean and organised. Reporting any equipment failures through CIL’s escalation procedure.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a production or assembly role within a similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Focused on detail with a ‘Right First Time’ attitude.
- Manual hand dexterity and strong use of fine motor skills.
- Ability to work individually meeting own targets and as part of a team working towards shared goals.
- Flexible; willing to learn new tasks and assist in different areas of the production processes as required.
- Excellent level of communication skills with the ability to relay information at a level relevant to the audience.
- The ability to follow instructions and understand works orders.
- Hand soldering experience is advantageous.
- Use of fine tools and microscopes advantageous.
- Experience in PCB production processes is desirable.
