We are currently looking to recruit an Oil Installation Engineer and an Oil Service and Repair Engineer (either two separate roles, or one multi-skilled) in the South Cornwall area. Custom Heat works predominantly across the private and domestic sector, our team are able to develop their skill and experience in a variety of settings with different customers; from projects at Windsor Castle through to the Aston Martin F1 team.

As an engineer, working at Custom Heat, you will have the opportunity to work across fuel types, on Boiler Change and full system installations, Air Conditioning, Underfloor Heating, and Renewable systems such as Ground Source and Air Source Heat Pumps. Training is provided to support Engineer development and growth in all areas of the above, if desired.

The working week is Monday – Friday (08:00am – 17:00pm) however flexible working requests can be considered at the point of application.

To be suited for this role you must:

  • Be Registered with OFTEC (Gas and LPG registration is desirable).
  • Have good communication & problem solving skills and be able to work well under pressure.
  • Be willing to travel on occasion a radius of up to 30 miles (subsidised with Mobile Allowance Arrangements).
  • Have a NVQ or have been on a recognised apprentice route and you must have a minimum of 3 years independent installation experience of fitting oil boilers and systems before applying for this role.
  • Be subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.

We also have a full time delivery driver so waiting for parts to arrive on site is minimal. We also invest heavily in training, we want all of our engineers to hold the core gas, LPG, OFTEC, unvented and so on, as you’ll see from a search on us on the Gas Safe website you’ll see most engineers have LPG etc. We attend many manufacturers courses and can upskill a new employee with any additional qualifications including Air conditioning and renewable qualifications if needed. Our training scheme normally starts 12 months after starting the job.
