Job Description

What you’ll do

The client is a young, very happy and sociable gentleman with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. He loves to go out for long walks and to go out for days out so a driver during the day would be essential. For example you could be going on trips tothe space centre, country parks, Warwick Castle and many more!

He is non-verbal but you will get know him by his facial expressions and ifhe is at home he has many hobbies that you could get involved in, this could include painting with his hands, finger painting; listening to music and watching TV.

He would love to go to concerts, so an outgoing, friendly person who is willing to take him to shows and live events would keep him thoroughly entertained.

In terms of the clinical aspects, you would provide personal care, administer medication and feeds via PEG, make hourly observations and finally to monitor his non-invasive ventilator. The latter is only required during the night shift.

Qualifications

What you’ll need

Full training will be provided but experience in a complex care setting, inclusive of knowledge of neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy and epilepsy would be extremely advantageous.

A background in the usage of a PEG feed, a non-invasive ventilator, moving and handling equipment and caring for non-verbal clients would also enhance your application.
