Cushman & Wakefield seeks an ambitious Rating Technician to join our Commercial Real Estate team in Birmingham. It is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional with strong research, data analysis, and organisational skills. It is also open to a candidate with rating experience who is seeking to progress their career in business rates and become a Chartered Surveyor.
You will support the rating and valuation processes for a range of commercial properties, with a focus on office assets, by gathering market data, analysing comparables, and assisting in the preparation of reports.
Responsibilities:- Data Research & Market Analysis
- Conduct property and market research using platforms such as CoStar and office agency websites.
- Identify and analyse comparable properties and transaction data to support valuation and rating decisions, including property asset inspections as required.
- Track market trends and rental levels relevant to commercial assets.
- Rating & Valuation Support
- Assist in applying internal rating models and valuation frameworks to commercial real estate assets.
- Collate key documents including lease abstracts, floor plans, rent rolls, and financial data for the production of client-ready reports and internal summaries.
- Documentation & Data Management
- Maintain organised digital records of data sources, comparables, and valuation support.
- Update property and financial data into internal systems and Excel models.
- Presentation Support
- Assist in creating PowerPoint presentations for internal stakeholders and client meetings.
- Help ensure data and visuals are accurate, professional, and aligned with brand standards.
- Excellent research skills and can quickly source and verify property and market data.
- Confident using CoStar and navigating commercial real estate websites (preferred but not mandatory).
- Understands the basics of valuation and property analysis, particularly for office assets.
- Comfortable analysing comparables and extracting insights from property data.
- Efficiently collates and organises documents to support senior team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas, tables) and PowerPoint (presentations and formatting).
- Strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
- Has a valid UK driving licence.
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Finance, Geography, or a related field (recent graduates and/or candidates with some business rate experience encouraged to apply).
- Internship or coursework related to commercial real estate, property research, or finance is a plus.
