Overview
Manchester — As part of Cushman & Wakefield’s Project & Development Services team, the Engineer will play a key role in delivering high-quality building engineering solutions across a range of commercial real estate projects. This role involves the design, management, and supervision of engineering works, working collaboratively with other disciplines — including sustainability, architecture, and project management — to ensure technical excellence and innovative, sustainable outcomes. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of projects from concept through to completion, supporting clients on their Journey to Net Zero Carbon while meeting fee, billing, and profitability targets.

Responsibilities
- Design, manage, and supervise engineering projects, coordinating with other disciplines including sustainability and real estate teams.
- Prepare detailed designs, specifications, reports, drawings, and budget cost plans in line with industry standards and project programmes.
- Supervise project works on site, ensuring quality workmanship, compliance, and testing standards are met.
- Conduct due diligence surveys, dilapidations assessments, forward maintenance planning, and technical audits.
- Support clients in understanding and implementing strategies aligned with their Journey to Net Zero Carbon.
- Establish and agree project briefs, technical requirements, scope of works, cost plans, and deliverables.
- Manage project design duties and resource requirements, including coordination with CAD and engineering teams.
- Oversee all project stages from concept design through to tender, contract, and completion, ensuring delivery to agreed deadlines.
- Liaise closely with the design team to produce coordinated, compliant, and high-quality designs.
- Participate actively in design and project meetings, maintaining consistent internal design reviews and quality checks.
- Monitor project progress, variations, and financial budgets, ensuring alignment with agreed scope and profitability targets.
- Contribute to achieving fee income, billing, and profit objectives.
Skills & Experience
- Degree-qualified engineer with experience in building services or related engineering disciplines.
- Strong technical design knowledge with the ability to deliver projects from concept to completion.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Experience supervising site works and managing contractors.
- Commercial awareness with understanding of fee structures, project budgeting, and cost control.
- Knowledge or interest in sustainable design and Net Zero Carbon strategies.
- Proficient in relevant design software, CAD tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
