Overview

Assistant Client Accountant role based in Birmingham. This role will provide essential support across day-to-day financial operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions, maintaining records, and assisting with reconciliations and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach and a strong foundation in accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Assist the Senior and or Client Accountants with Client delivery or own a set of smaller Client instructions.
  • Preparing and issuing month-end and year-end reporting in line with internal processes and the signed Client PMA.
  • Support the team with resolution of any Client reporting queries and join any regular accounting calls with Clients.
  • Assisting in the preparation of VAT returns and audit support documentation as well as VAT reconciliations.
  • Preparing and issuing funding requests to Clients ensuring funding is reconciled at all times.
  • Preparing and arranging the transfer of income collected on behalf of our Clients.
  • Supporting completion of service charge year ends, cash reconciliations and budgets.
  • Contributing to the mobilisation of new Client instructions and the handing over of ex-instructions.
  • Supporting with the resolution of any unallocated cash resolved to ensure prompt posting to the accounting system.
  • Raising tenant payable invoices ensuring all recharges are raised.
  • Performing billing reconciliations to ensure income raised in line with lease obligations.
  • Liaising with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve queries.
  • Providing general support to the wider finance team as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Yardi, Tramps, or similar)
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
  • AAT/accounting qualification (or working towards) is desirable but not essential
