We are looking for a Front Of House Officer to support shows we programme at Curve Venue this Autumn/ Winter season.

Casual Hours: Includes Fri/ Sat evenings plus daytime hours in the school holidays.

Salary: Β£12.21 per hour

Job Summary

This is a casual position to support the Autumn / Winter programme at Curve Venue.

The Front of House Officer plays a major role in the delivery of high quality customer service for the venue.

Responsibilities include the front of house operation, co-ordinating volunteer stewards and liaison with marketing, technical and box office staff on shows as well as visiting artists.

Some manual lifting is required as furniture and objects need to be moved at the beginning and end of the shift so a level of physical fitness is required.

Key Responsibilities

  1. 1. To ensure that all visitors to the Venue receive excellent customer service.
  2. 2. To oversee volunteer front of house staff.
  3. 3. To set up and run F&B (food and beverage) sales

Detailed Job Description

  1. 1. To supervise volunteer stewards on the day of a show including evacuation briefings.
  2. 2. To welcome and look after visiting artists
  3. 3. To be responsible for card receipts taken for the sale of programmes and merchandise.
  4. 4. To ensure that the foyer and toilets are kept clean and tidy during a show and that the green room and dressing room are prepped before artists arrival.
  5. 5. To support marketing, box office and technical staff as required (NB this may include lifting and moving objects/ furniture)
  6. 6. To act in accordance with the Data Protection Act, and the Centre's Health and Safety Policy.
  7. 7. Any administrative and other duties as may be required as part of the Front of House Officer function.

Hours of work:

Casual hours according to the programme. Includes evenings and weekends.

Person Specification

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment
  • An understanding of high quality customer service
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to manage manual handling, including lifting and carrying (a good level of physical fitness is required)
  • A genuine interest in the arts
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Supervisory or management experience of paid or voluntary staff
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
  • Experience in front of house and event management in the entertainment or hospitality industry
  • Own means of transport
