Requirements

  • PDA ESQ qualification or equivalent (at SCQF level 6 or above – e.g., NC Early Education and Childcare; SVQ3 Social Care)

Responsibilities

You will assist and support class teachers in the provision of a high standard of care and a comprehensive educational programme designed to meet the physical and developmental requirements of children and young people with additional support needs. These needs can arise from the learning environment; medical and/or disability issues; familial circumstances; or social and emotional issues.

The Individual

You will have experience of working with children and/or young people with complex and additional support needs. You will be trained, or willing to be trained, in complex healthcare needs. You will have good communication skills and the ability to be an effective team member who can assist and support class teachers. You will be able to provide a high standard of care for children and young people, remain calm in challenging situations, and be empathetic, flexible and reliable. This post is considered regulated work with children and/or protected adults, under the protection of vulnerable groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
