A trusted provider of multi-disciplined construction and refurbishment services is looking for a Project Engineer. They have a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, technically complex projects across a diverse range of sectors including commercial, healthcare, offices and particularly within live hospital environments with typical project values ranging from £50k to £5 million.
As the Project Engineer you will be supporting the delivery of construction and building services projects across their portfolio. The successful candidate will assist in the planning, coordination and execution of works from design through to commissioning and handover.
This role is ideal for a Project Engineer who enjoys both office-based project management and hands-on site coordination, working closely with the Contract Manager, clients and subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant and successful project delivery.
As the Project Engineer you will have the following responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of project delivery activities, ensuring works are completed on time and within budget.
- Undertake site surveys and prepare technical documentation, including drawings, reports and risk assessments.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain progress and resolve technical queries.
- Support commissioning activities, ensuring systems are tested, witnessed and documented in line with project requirements.
- Review design drawings and specifications, identifying any conflicts or opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including RAMS, progress reports and O&M manuals.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health and safety policies and company quality standards.
- Assist with procurement, scheduling and coordination of materials and subcontractors.
- Contribute to project meetings and provide updates to senior management.
- Support project handover and client demonstrations.
Successful applicants will have the following skills and experience:
- Industry qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or Construction (ideally Degree or HNC/HND).
- Previous experience in project engineering, construction management or commissioning.
- Strong understanding of M&E systems and technical drawings.
- Excellent communication, organisation and coordination skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-moving SME environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit).
