A national Tier One M&E Contractor are looking for a Mechanical Estimator to join their expanding team in Northampton. The company provides M&E services to a wide range of clients and businesses across a multitude of sectors including MOD, HMP, Commercial, Education and Healthcare.

As the Mechanical Estimator you will work within an established M&E estimating team in preparing mechanical estimates up to £10 million, so previous experience is essential.

The Mechanical Estimator will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparing accurate and competitive mechanical tenders using estimating software package.
  • Manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
  • Attend site surveys or tender interviews as necessary.
  • Evaluate supplier and sub-contract returns to ensure compliance with the tender specification.
  • Maintaining and updating cost databases to reflect current market trends, material prices and labour costs ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Liaise with other departments regarding completion of all information as identified as required within the enquiry.
  • Provide ongoing assistance to the projects team if requests for the generation of variation costs are received.
  • Close liaison with new and existing clients regarding any enquiries received and assigned, always representing the business in a professional manner.

Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Overall knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of mechanical systems and their installation methods.
  • Experience within in similar position as a Mechanical Estimator ideally with project values up to £10m.
  • Mechanical qualifications.
  • The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines whilst managing multiple tenders.
  • The ability to plan, co-ordinate and prioritise tenders.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
