Junior Electrical Project Engineer

Location: Norwich, Norfolk

Package: £30,000 – £42,000 DOE, 22 days holiday + Bank Holidays, company vehicle

A leading regional M&E Contractor is looking for a Junior Electrical Project Engineer to join their expanding Norwich office. The company provides M&E services to a wide range of end‑user clients and main contractors across a variety of sectors including schools, universities, hospitals, research & development and high‑end residential.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Junior Electrical Project Engineer to develop their career in project management within a supportive environment incorporating both project management and estimating. The successful candidate will be working in partnership with the project management and estimating teams to effectively deliver the projects and assist producing tenders and costings for future works.

The role is open to someone just out of their time having completed an electrical qualification, looking to come off the tools and to step into managing projects and the commercial element of tendering news works or someone who has already progressed to an office role but looking for a business offering further progression and training.

Responsibilities

  • Duties (under guidance) which include the financial monitoring and control of the contracts, visiting the construction sites and working from the office to ensure Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance is maintained, and the company\’s procedures and objectives are achieved.
  • Provide general assistance to a more Senior Project Engineer or Estimator; who may be in charge of a single scheme or multiple projects, who will ultimately liaise directly with main contractor, clients, consultants and other contractors to ensure successful completion of contracts or quotation.
  • Monitoring incoming communications relating to all projects and assist the engineers/action directly as applicable.
  • Help produce and monitor programme of works, in line with the main contractor and client\’s expectations.
  • Help plan and control labour levels to each project to suit the programme.
  • Assist with the correct preparation and production of information for the as‑installed manuals, testing certificates and drawings in a timely manner.
  • Assist in production of material take‑offs; assistance in all aspects of the procurement of materials and labour against contract target programmes.
  • Assist in the preparation of interim applications for payments and final account statements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Overall knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of electrical systems and their installation methods.
  • Relevant Electrical qualifications.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS desirable.
  • Good problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
