A Construction, M&E and Renewables installation and consultancy company are looking for an Estimator to support the pricing and tendering of commercial fit-out and development works, with a strong focus on public sector contracts particularly NHS Capital Projects and schools/education programmes.
As the Estimator you will produce accurate, competitive and compliant estimates across a wide range of project values between £5k to £2m, engaging with the supply chain and supporting tender submissions alongside the Managing Director and Operations team to help secure prospective work.
As the Estimator you will have the following responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate, competitive estimates for commercial fit-out and development works from £5k to £2m, ensuring compliance with tender requirements.
- Review ITTs, drawings, specifications, schedules and survey information, identify scope gaps and issue clarifications early.
- Complete take-offs and detailed build-ups (labour, plant, materials, prelims, OH&P and appropriate risk/contingency allowances).
- Obtain, evaluate and level subcontractor/supplier quotations, ensuring scope alignment, competitiveness and value for money.
- Support value engineering and alternative proposals where appropriate.
Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Proven estimating experience in commercial fit-out and/or development/refurbishment projects.
- Comfortable managing multiple tenders and deadlines with strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret drawings/specifications and produce clear, auditable pricing and tender documentation.
- Strong supply chain engagement skills (scoping packages, levelling quotes and negotiating where appropriate).
- Proficient in Excel and take-off/estimating tools (any mainstream platform acceptable).
- The ability to plan, co-ordinate and prioritise tenders.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of M&E interfaces and builders work coordination (desirable).
