Are you finishing school or college and looking to start a long-term career in construction? Curve Recruitment are working with a well-established, leading main contractor in their hunt for a Trainee / Apprentice Quantity Surveyor. This role would suit someone leaving school, sixth form or college who is interested in construction and keen to learn the commercial side of the industry. You will receive structured training, mentorship from experienced Quantity Surveyors and clear career progression with the opportunity to work towards a recognised qualification while gaining hands-on experience.

You’ll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle on a range of projects valued up to £15m across a variety of sectors.

Performance Objectives

As a Trainee / Apprentice Quantity Surveyor, you will be supported while learning key commercial responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting with cost control and commercial reporting
  • Supporting interim valuations, variations and final accounts
  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement and administration
  • Maintaining cost trackers, procurement schedules and commercial records
  • Supporting monthly CVRs, forecasting and cashflow reporting
  • Attending site visits and project meetings to gain practical exposure
  • Learning contract administration under JCT and NEC forms
  • Developing a strong understanding of construction costs and project delivery
Person Specification
  • Recently finished school, sixth form or college (A-Levels, T-Levels, BTEC or equivalent)
  • Interest in construction, engineering, or the built environment
  • Strong numerical and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills, particularly Excel
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence beneficial (but not essential)
