A growing M&E Contractor with significant growth plans in place is looking for a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to help drive its continued success in their small works and maintenance division. They deliver high quality Mechanical & Electrical services across a variety of sectors including commercial, education and healthcare in and around Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about the M&E industry and driven to generate new business opportunities and build long-term client relationships. Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will play a key role in supporting the company’s growth and expanding its market presence in the small works and maintenance sector.

As the Business Development Manager, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within the Mechanical & Electrical sector mainly in the service and maintenance contract sector.
  • Build, develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, FM managers and key stakeholders.
  • Negotiate and close contracts with clients and partners.
  • Develop and implement effective business development strategies to increase revenue and market share.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact through to contract commencement.
  • Prepare proposals, pre-qualification questionnaires, bid writing and presentations tailored to meet client needs.
  • Look, find and tender local framework contracts.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions and competitor activities.
  • Collaborate with operational and management teams to ensure seamless transitions from sales to project delivery.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences and networking functions.

Successful applicants will have the following experience:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales or a similar role within the M&E / Construction / Facilities Management industry.
  • Strong understanding of the construction process and industry regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and target driven.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Able to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
