The Senior Electronic Engineer will be part of a team providing support for analogue, digital (FPGA), and computer-based safety systems. The team covers requirements, design, and maintenance of systems and products. Emphasis is on robust classical analysis and modelling of analogue instrumentation front-ends.
Location: Wimborne, UK
Key Responsibilities
- Work ethically and safely, adhering to standards within the nuclear industry
- Provide technical leadership within the team and the company
- Establish customer solutions and support discussions to agree on outcomes regarding cost, timescale, and implementation
- Peer review technical reports, drawings, and designs for safety, functionality, and compliance
- Analyze existing systems to determine requirements for replacement or refurbishment
- Support project managers and team leaders technically
- Liaise with suppliers regarding third-party equipment
- Occasionally assist with installation and commissioning at customer sites
- Develop personal engineering skills in safety systems and instrumentation
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and modernization
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Electronics Engineering or industry experience in electronics design, including schematic design, PCB layout, and simulation (e.g., Altium)
- Strong understanding of analogue electronics design in instrumentation front-ends (noise, frequency response, cabling, temperature effects)
- Knowledge of digital electronics families and device categories
- Experience with systems engineering of electronic systems, including integration and thermal/reliability considerations
- Proficiency with modern instrumentation such as digital oscilloscopes and programmable instruments
- Experience managing team workloads
- Familiarity with systems engineering tools like DOORS (advantage)
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
