Curtiss-Wright Nuclear is growing! We are seeking a strategic and commercially minded Contracts Director to play a key role within our global Nuclear Division. This position partners closely with Business Unit leadership, Sales, and technical Program teams to shape and execute commercial strategy across complex domestic and international opportunities.
From early-stage pursuit and contract negotiations through post-award execution and risk management, this role serves as a trusted advisor to the business. This role will balance legal compliance, commercial objectives, and operational realities. This is an exciting opportunity to influence major global programs, lead high-impact negotiations, and provide commercial leadership within a collaborative shared services environment supporting a highly regulated and technically advanced industry.
Location: Remote within the UK with approximately 20% international travel, primarily to the USA.
Your Challenge:
- Works closely with the Business Development and Sales Teams to win new opportunities.
- Establishes contracts and commercial strategy for major bids and contracts.
- Leads on the review, drafting and negotiation of commercial terms and conditions on complex agreements with key customers to deliver the Business Strategy, including negotiation of flow-down terms to key suppliers.
- Ensures that Curtiss-Wright's interests are served and protected through compliance with all company policies, applicable laws, regulatory and customer requirements while balancing corporate business objectives. (50%)
- Directs a team of experts and senior managers who have overall responsibility for the successful operation of the assigned areas.
- Provides contractual, negotiation and commercial business guidance to business unit leaders, sales and marketing staff, program managers and senior management.
- Provides career development and training opportunities for contracts professionals and business generally. (20%)
- Participates in the development of business alliances, acquisitions & divestitures.
- Understands the business case and has an appreciation of financial/analytical issues and profit and loss implications.
- Provides advice to business on contract variations, claims and other disputes.
- Establishes post-award contracts strategy on complex contracts.
- Negotiates contract variations and claim resolution, the resolution of which can have a material impact on business performance. (20%)
- Interacts internally and externally with executive level management, requiring negotiation of extremely critical matters.
- Provides expert contract/legal/compliance advice to business on various matters (including supply chain, HR, management etc.) and provides valued inputs into Strategic Planning Process. (10%)
What You Bring:
- Training in contract law with Management experience, excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and collaboration, and the ability to maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Excellent negotiation skills, with a proven track record in international contracting and negotiation of complex contracts structured to meet corporate objectives.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with proficiency using MS Office.
- Significant contract management and dispute resolution experience. Able to draft and negotiate high value complex claims, variations and commercial disputes globally.
- Strong organization skills with the ability to manage strategic, operational and tactical responsibilities in a hands-on culture focused on delivering results.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in developing and implementing metrics and measurements to evaluate results and drive continuous improvement.
