As a Quality Control Supervisor, you will lead and ensure the effective operation of the Quality Control team, ensuring appropriate quality control oversight is performed on incoming goods, incoming repair surveys, in-process manufacturing and final inspection of manufactured items.

Location: Wimborne, UK

Your Challenge:

  • Ensure the effective operation of the Quality Control function through ensuring adherence to all relevant processes, procedures, standards and requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision for the Quality Control team members, including task allocation and responsibilities in conjunction with the Operations Planning and Scheduling team.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and complete recording and maintenance of quality records in accordance with defined requirements, including generation of LTQRs (Life-Time Quality Records) to support contractual deliverables.
  • Ensure maintenance and adherence by the team to all relevant calibration, ESD or other special environmental or control requirements.
  • Develop credible relationships across the business and provide pragmatic solutions to eliminate / mitigate issues and/or risks, knowing when it is appropriate to escalate.
  • Coach and develop the QC team to encourage, support and promote success to improve overall team capability and performance.
  • Manage team performance, discipline and development through regular one to one meetings and performance and development reviews.
  • Conduct In-process, Final Inspection and Release of manufactured equipment, verifying conformance with established standards and product definitions.
  • Implement, maintain and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including trend analysis, to identify opportunities for improvement and reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Actively promote and participate in continual improvement activities.
  • Contribute to the continual development and improvement of the Business Management System (BMS).
  • Any other reasonable duties as and when required.

What You Bring:

  • Educated to a minimum of BTEC ONC level or equivalent, preferably in a Quality-related discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience in QC and/or relevant supervisory roles.
  • Sound knowledge of quality management principles and techniques within a manufacturing environment, including non-conformance management and problem-solving techniques.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 or NQA-1 Quality Management Standards.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical & mechanical engineering drawings, including an understanding of circuit diagrams, tolerances, geometric tolerances and weld symbols.
  • Prior experience and good understanding of metrology techniques required for the inspection of precision mechanical components.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel minimum).
  • Prior experience of leading or managing a small team.
  • Electrical / Electronic inspection to meet compliance with IPC610, IPC620 or worked to an equivalent standard would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of First Article Inspection requirements, with knowledge of AS9102 Aerospace First Article Inspection Requirement preferred.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (ISO 9001 or AS9100) or demonstrable experience of internal audits; Lead Auditor / Third party auditing experience an advantage.
  • Experience of using ERP systems.
