We are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Avionics, Video and Systems Team! As our Principal Systems Engineer you will lead the system developments within the integrated project team. Design authority for all elements of the system development. You will also recommend innovations to improve product performance, reduce cost and improve profitability.

Your Challenge
- Manage a team of systems engineers and identify and organise work in accordance with the systems design life cycle.
- Authorise systems design decisions and approve systems life cycle data.
- Where necessary, implement all aspects of the system design lifecycle from requirements capture to architecture definition, product qualification, verification, and certification.
- Ensure all tasks/work packages are allocated to appropriate resources.
- Complete in accordance with the applicable project plan.
- Formal reporting of progress to the project manager.
- Ensure all developments are carried out in accordance with Company procedures.
- Ensure all hardware, software and firmware developments are aligned to the system requirements.
- Organise and chair system level design reviews.
- Support continuous improvement of system engineering company processes.
- Support certification activities for company products.
- Provide definition of work packages to support project planning and bidding.
- Provide mentoring and help develop system engineers.
- Control account manager for system development work packages.
- Set priorities for the system engineers in accordance with the programme and integrated project team priorities.
What You Bring
Essential Criteria:
- Extensive knowledge of requirements elicitation, management and requirements based design.
- Proven track record in systems engineering throughout the whole system development lifecycle.
- Educated to Degree/HND level in an appropriate subject. In exceptional cases, relevant experience may be substituted for formal qualifications/training.
- Relevant experience within an aerospace/automotive/medical/safety-critical environment.
Desirable Criteria:
- Team leadership experience.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
- Knowledge of ARP4754, DO-254, DO-178 and D-160.
