The Role
We are seeking an experienced Principal or Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical team. This is a key technical role supporting project delivery across multiple offices, with the opportunity to help shape and grow our geotechnical capability regionally. Preferred locations are Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh or Glasgow. This position forms an important part of our ongoing investment in technical excellence and team growth. You will play a leading role in delivering high‑quality geotechnical input across a wide range of projects. The role is primarily technical, with additional opportunities to support team growth and contribute to business development.
Key Tasks
- Understanding of CD622 is an advantage
- Work with other disciplines to deliver high‑profile schemes and innovative solutions to client satisfaction
- Provide pro‑active mentoring of junior staff
- Assist in winning business
- Liaise pro‑actively with clients, stakeholders, regulators, sub‑contractors and design team members
- Ensure all work is delivered in line with Curtins procedures and policies and to the highest safety, health and environmental standards
Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Geology and Geotechnics or a relevant subject
- Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferable
- Chartered status with the Geological Society, ICE or similar
- Work experience in a similar consultancy role, preferably in the built‑environment
- Knowledge of engineering geology and geotechnics referencing British Standards, EuroCode 7, etc.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of earthworks design and validation
- Experience in the design of shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, reinforced earth and ground improvement techniques
- Ability to produce written reports to a high standard, presenting technical information clearly and concisely
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn new tasks
- Strong focus on health and safety
- Valid driving licence
- Experience supporting renewables projects and business development is desirable but not essential.
