Join to apply for the Graduate Structural Engineer role at Curtins. Imagine passing through your hometown or city and being able to proudly point out the buildings, structures and infrastructure that you have contributed to? That is what life is like for many of our team at Curtins: over the last 60+ years we have reshaped and improved the skyline of many towns and cities. If you are looking to join a friendly team to do rewarding and challenging work together, Curtins might just be the place for you.
What will I be doing day to day? I will work with colleagues on different projects, learning new things straight away. I’ll understand how structures work, how loads are transmitted and resisted, and how different materials are used. I’ll use software to model and design structural elements and then carry out hand checks to verify my answers. I’ll see a real mixture of projects—from old to new, big to small, covering all sectors—and I’ll be involved from concept through to construction. In addition to design work I’ll have some involvement in the management side of projects, and opportunities in STEM work, charity support and community activities.
What kind of projects will I get to work on? We work on a wide variety of buildings, from multi‑million pound new build schemes to local community buildings, heritage preservation and sustainable retrofits. Every client and project is different, and many of our projects are award‑winning—giving you work you can be proud of. After gaining breadth, you may specialise in a particular building type or design approach—whether conservation, modern methods of construction or carbon reduction—under the mentorship of UK’s leading consultancy experts.
How will Curtins support me in my personal development? Step into your path towards Chartership with our accredited 4‑year transformational programme, providing contemporary technical and non‑technical skills. Our structured graduate development unlocks boundless possibilities to work on cutting‑edge projects, dynamic teams and engaging with clients, while being mentored by high‑calibre professionals. We pay your Graduate Membership Fees for 5 years post‑graduation and offer the Curtins Academy and several other structured training programmes.
The Extras: Industry‑leading benefits—including 5* holiday lodges—plus award‑winning training and development programmes. We are an Investors‑in‑People Platinum accredited company, a standard held by fewer than 1% of IIP accredited organisations.
