Its lawyers regularly advise major insurers and reinsurers on complex international risks, including matters arising under multinational policies.

The practice has significant experience handling high-profile and complex D&O and FI disputes, with a particular strength in coverage advice and policy interpretation.

The Role

The successful candidate will join a highly experienced team advising leading insurer clients across the D&O and Financial Institutions space.

The work will primarily focus on complex coverage issues arising under D&O, FI, crime, BBB and management liability policies.

Given the international nature of the practice, the role will involve regular collaboration with overseas offices and specialists across other areas of law, including corporate, employment and white-collar crime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handling a varied and technically complex D&O and FI caseload, with a strong emphasis on insurance coverage.
  • Advising leading insurer and reinsurer clients on complex policy and coverage issues.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and developing strong long-term relationships.
  • Working collaboratively with lawyers and specialists across different jurisdictions and practice areas.
  • Providing clear, commercially focused advice and written analysis on complex legal and coverage issues.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in the insurance market and continuing to develop technical expertise.
  • Supporting the wider growth and development of the practice through a collegiate and team-focused approach.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 3 years' PQE, ideally gained within a specialist insurance practice or in-house with a financial lines insurer.
  • Strong experience advising on complex D&O and/or FI coverage matters.
  • Excellent client-handling and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience of a secondment with a leading financial lines insurer would be advantageous.
  • Strong written and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal and coverage issues clearly.
  • Commercially minded, with a practical and client-focused approach to legal advice.
  • Able to work independently while recognising when to seek guidance and support.
  • Collaborative, ambitious and keen to contribute to the continued growth of a market-leading practice.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance lawyer to join a highly regarded D&O and FI team, working on complex, high-value and often international coverage matters for leading insurer clients.

The role offers significant exposure to sophisticated financial lines work, alongside the opportunity to work with specialists across a wider international platform.
