This role joins the existing supplier management team, which is responsible for developing and driving best practice in supplier management strategy, managing key partner relationships, working closely with the category teams to support negotiations, whilst coordinating and co‑leading new supplier initiatives across regions. This role will lead critical cross‑category supplier focused change programmes within the supplier management team.
Role overview:
- Providing strategic support to the Heads of Supplier Management on designing and deploying new initiatives, including roadmap planning, determining and driving wider business support, and interdependency mapping.
- Acting as project implementation lead for cross‑category initiatives, supporting the wider supplier management team through ongoing operational support, data‑led insights, as well as driving monitoring and continuous improvement processes.
- Demonstrating thought leadership and creative thinking to develop further commercial opportunities, utilising internal and external insights collated by the wider supplier management team.
- Act as a key contact point for a designated category team, providing ongoing support in strategic supplier management decision‑making in advance of negotiations.
- Facilitating multi‑team collaboration on initiatives and best practice knowledge sharing, to support the development of a ‘gold standard’ approach to supplier engagement.
- Developing strong collaborative working relationships with key internal stakeholders, including wider supplier management team, category teams, as well as finance and marketing business partners.
- Improving reporting and data analysis processes to increase information transparency and granularity through collaboration with the business intelligence team, providing new insights to relevant teams.
- Leading and coaching direct reports to foster a high‑performance and collaborative culture.
You will need:
- Project management strong experience in leading multi‑phase, complex projects within a commercial setting, with multiple projects strands, requiring extensive stakeholder collaboration and activity prioritisation.
- Commercial Acumen strong knowledge of the commercial drivers of our business and those of our supply base.
- Excellent collaboration skills building strong relationships across the business, working closely with the Commercial Teams, Finance, and others internally as well as with key external suppliers.
- Written and Verbal Communication Skills ability to tell complex stories in a compelling manner via all means of communication to a diverse audience (including senior management), as well as external stakeholders.
- Problem Solving ability to analyse and understand complex data and situations to recommend the optimal solution.
- Results Focused delivers work end to end to conclusion in a planned and controlled manner, focused on optimising both supplier relationships and commercial performance.
- Demonstrate involvement & experience from early stage problem identification through to delivery in a complex, matrixed environment.
- Presentation & Storytelling – able to articulate a problem, present a compelling business case and sequence recommendations to improve outcomes.
- Experience structuring and negotiating supplier terms with experience of leading a team within a Commercial department, preferably at a large complex organisation.
