As Commercial Analyst, you will play a key role in developing the “New Categories” proposition by identifying new opportunities through analysing market trends and consumer behaviour, to drive performance improvement and identify new revenue opportunities. Working closely with Category teams, Commercial Finance, Channels, Customer Insights, Data & Analytics & Marketing, you will use data to make recommendations for pricing, promotions, and assortment strategies to maximise sales and profitability.
Reporting directly to the Senior Buyer, you will support the delivery of category strategy across the New Categories portfolio, playing a pivotal role in supporting transformation projects as part of our 3YP growth initiatives. You will report on existing performance, measure tests & trials, search for key trends and identify further initiatives which are viable & financially beneficial. You will be responsible for examining market trends, sales data and financial performance. You will conduct analysis and offer recommendations under the guidance of the Senior Buyer to enhance operational efficiency and drive overall Category success.
This role supports the strategic planning process, ensuring the category remains competitive, adapting to market changes and delivering all objectives through data-driven decision making. You will have strong commercial acumen and analytical data skills, with a strong desire to collaborate and work cross-functionally. You will have strong influencing skills and be comfortable working with internal and external third parties to deliver profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct desktop research to identify trends and opportunities within the “New Categories” portfolio, leveraging AI-powered market intelligence tools where available.
- Analyse sales data, financial performance and customer behaviour data to provide actionable insights for performance improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data and enhance reporting capabilities, ensuring alignment and commitment to delivery.
- Support the Senior Buyer and Senior Category team in creating comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, outlining key performance indicators.
- Prepare data to allow the team to evaluate and optimise pricing and ranging strategies, working closely with the Pricing & Buying teams to deliver a competitive offer reflective of market dynamics.
- Utilise data-driven approaches to enhance the customer offer and support in the shaping of marketing campaigns which are channel appropriate.
- Produce data which monitors and assesses the effectiveness of ranges, promotional campaigns, trials and key initiatives.
- Assist in budgeting processes by providing data-driven insights to support financial planning.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements to ensure the landscape is understood and central to all decision-making.
- Support the Senior Buyer with ad-hoc analysis and business cases to inform category investment and strategic priorities.
- Experience in data analysis, preferably in the retail or consumer electronics sector.
- Strong proficiency in data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with SQL or Python for data extraction and analysis is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in data analysis.
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to think strategically.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with peers internally and external third parties.

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office tools, specifically Excel & Access.
- Experience with data visualisation platforms (Power BI preferred).
