Positioned at the heart of our fast-paced Commercial team, this is an exciting opportunity to join our Apple and Google Chromebook category as an Assistant Buyer.
Working with some of the world's leading technology brands, you will support the Buyer and Senior Buyer in delivering a compelling product range and outstanding value for our customers.
As Assistant Buyer, you will play a key role in managing the category at SKU level, collaborating closely with Buying, Merchandising, Online and Go-to-Market teams to drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
This role is ideal for a highly organised individual with a keen eye for detail, who thrives in a dynamic environment and is confident working both collaboratively and independently.
Role overview
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for
- Helping to manage supplier relationships in line with the category strategy.
- Keeping tabs on the competition so we can set competitive prices.
- Analysing trading performance and recommending actions to drive our business.
- Supporting the Buyer and Senior Buyer in negotiating product ranges – cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, stock availability.
- Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets.
- Answering any store feedback specific to range and promotions.
- Daily competitor checks to ensure the team is aware of any activity in the market.
You will need
- Previous buying experience within a commercial environment, ideally at Assistant Buyer level.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and with external suppliers.
- Highly organised with strong analytical and numerical skills, and the ability to make informed commercial decisions.
- Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of customer needs and market trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ideally including Power BI and a strong working knowledge of the wider Microsoft Office suite.
