Senior Motor Risk Assessor
Field Based • Permanent • Full Time • Grade 3

We’re looking for a Senior Motor Risk Assessor to join our Logistics Motor Risk team; a specialist group dedicated to keeping our commercial drivers, vehicles, and operations safe and efficient. In this role, you’ll lead and support a team of Motor Risk Assessors, using your expertise to promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across our network.
As part of this role, you\’ll be responsible for:
- Leading, coaching, and developing Motor Risk Assessors to build capability and confidence.
- Conducting and overseeing Motor Risk Assessments in line with DVSA standards.
- Promoting safe driving behaviours through coaching, education, and practical support.
- Supporting driver inductions and creating clear, actionable development plans.
- Monitoring tachograph and telematics data to identify trends and address risks.
- Investigating incidents and recommending preventative actions.
- Analysing driver KPIs and site data to improve standards and reduce operational risk.
- Building collaborative relationships across teams to embed a safety-first culture.
- Producing and sharing high-quality insights to support decision-making.
- Contributing to the development of future-fit motor risk strategies aligned with best practice.
You will need:
- Experience in a leadership, coaching, or mentoring role.
- Confidence working independently and collaboratively across multiple locations.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
- In-depth knowledge of tachograph regulations and driver compliance.
- Experience in conducting investigations and developing improvement plans.
- A proactive approach to safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-led decision-making.
- Excellent time management and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Full UK driving licence with C1 entitlement.
- 5+ years of commercial vehicle driving experience.
- Valid Driver CPC.
- Driver Assessor trained (or equivalent).
- RoSPA Gold standard in Advanced Driving Techniques.
- Level 4 RoSPA in Driver Behaviour (desirable).
