The Solution Architect will be responsible for leading the solution architecture and owning the technology roadmaps for our business-critical Credit Offerings. They will evaluate our business needs alongside our chosen implementation partners and identify how technology can deliver those needs. They will lead the design of major programmes to ensure we identify, document and deliver appropriate, cost-effective solutions, incorporating our strategic platforms and the integration of pre-existing applications.

The successful candidate shall be able to demonstrate evidence of strong stakeholder management skills, be well versed in supporting a team of architects, able to manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment and should be an effective communicator. You will liaise with various departments including Omnichannel, Commercial, Finance, IT and Analytics. The role includes working closely with BAs and engineering teams based in the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation, analysis and review of assigned solution architectures within the Credit portfolio.
  • Responsible for the overall design of solutions within the Credit portfolio, aligning customer/business requirements to system/technical requirements using best practices, design patterns and existing assets.
  • Defines the system components, services, technologies and designs required to implement a solution that represents the intersection of Business, Information, Application and Technology architecture domains addressing a specific business opportunity, capability or problem.
  • Contributes to the Currys technology standards, identifying and delivering key differentiating technologies to Currys, to create a step-change in cost, capability and/or insight.
  • Responsible for development of End-to-End solutions/initiatives across the Credit Portfolio of projects, including all aspects of the technology solution (Hardware, Software, Operability, Scalability etc) as well as influencing the related business processes to ensure business and technology alignment.
  • Ability to review and lead review software designs and capabilities within the Credit portfolio.
  • Acts as a solution leader for solutions within the Credit Portfolio, providing work guidance to development teams.
  • Contribute to, and maintain, Currys architecture repository for Credit Portfolio, ensuring oversight of Partner documentation where required.
  • Capable of implementing and reviewing complex software designs within the Credit Portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to influence the technology choices for Initiatives within the Credit Portfolio.
  • Support Technology and Business leaders within the Credit area of Currys with technology advisory services to “solve” business problems via technology and process innovation relative to the IT capability requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Deep understanding and experience in cross-channel architecture in eCommerce & Credit.
  • 5+ years of IT experience in an architecture role responsible for both business systems support.
  • Well versed in Solution Architecture, including networks, data, application, system and integration architectures.
  • Ideally has worked within an FSA regulated environment, particularly around Credit offerings.
  • Must have experience of working in an API First space.
  • An understanding of Azure cloud hosting.
  • Full SDLC experience in both Agile & Waterfall environments.
  • Retail and ecommerce knowledge.
