As a Lead Delivery Manager in Technology, you will be responsible for delivering high-value, complex initiatives across all areas of technology. You will work in collaboration with the business to understand their needs, drive results and deliver excellence. You will manage risks, issues, and budget, and ensure that initiatives are delivered to schedule, budget, scope, and the highest quality standards. You will also work in a collaborative way with multiple third parties and matrix teams, and foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.
We’re looking for someone with experience of Tech delivery specifically within the Retail industry, to partner with our Stores Operational Excellence and Transformation teams to deliver our continuous improvement and project backlog. We’re ideally looking for someone with experience of delivering retail hardware projects, especially mobile device implementations, and someone who has a great understanding of retail operational processes such as inventory management.
- Lead and manage the delivery of multiple technology initiatives, ranging from £3-7m, across different domains and platforms.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with the Stores teams, to understand their requirements, and ensure that the initiatives deliver value and meet their expectations.
- Be the face of Tech change for our Stores teams by helping to define great technical solutions that colleagues adopt and love.
- Define and implement the delivery strategy, approach, and plan, and ensure that initiatives follow the best practices and standards of project management.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, resources, communication, and risks, and proactively resolve any issues or conflicts that arise.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the wider Tech teams, third parties, and other delivery managers.
- Ensure that the dependencies, interdependencies, and integration points are identified and managed to ensure smooth delivery.
- Provide regular and transparent reporting and status updates to the senior management and governance boards, and escalate any issues or risks that need their attention or intervention – using PMO tool Planview.
- Drive the adoption of agile and lean methodologies, tools, and techniques, and foster a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement within the delivery teams and the wider technology function.
- Coach, mentor, and motivate the delivery teams, and ensure that they have the skills, capabilities, and support they need to deliver successfully.
Experience:
- 5+ years experience and proven track record of delivering complex and high-value technology initiatives across different domains and common enterprise-scale technology platforms Mulesoft, Oracle, Salesforce, Microsoft Azure.
- Experience of delivery in large complex organisations, such as FTSE 250 companies or top tier professional services.
- Past experience of retail tech delivery, knowledge of store level processes and strong understanding of retail software and hardware solutions.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the wider technology landscape, trends, and best practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, and ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
- Knowledge of programme & product organisation structures and proven ability to build teams who are set up for success.
- Experience of delivering tech change using both waterfall and agile methodologies.
- Strong leadership and management skills, and ability to inspire and empower the delivery teams.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with strong planning, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Resilient and adaptable, and able to cope with ambiguity and change in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Experience and ownership of budget and financial benefits tracking for initiatives >£3m.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, management, or a related field.
- Project Management certification, . Managing Successful Programmes (MSP); Project Methodology (Prince 2, PMP); Agile certifications (PSPO/Scrum, SAFe Practitioner).
