12 month contract, Level G3. As part of this role you will support the Buyer/Senior Buyer with supplier negotiations in line with the category strategy, selecting and negotiating product ranges and pricing. You will provide full competitive data and support the analysis of trading performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the buyer with management of supplier relationships in line with our overall commercial supplier strategy and the category strategy.
- Work with suppliers to develop a strong understanding of the future device roadmap, enabling the category to adequately plan ahead for likely changes in customer trends and demand.
- Negotiate product ranges – cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution and stock availability.
- Negotiate promotional funding support to drive sales while maintaining margin in line with financial objectives.
- Manage the promotional plans and sales out allowances.
- Work closely with buyer and category planner to secure supplier support to drive additional sales and margin where opportunity for upside exists, and particularly to mitigate risks against committed financial objectives.
- Analyse trading performance and recommend actions to drive our business.
- Responsible for competitor checks to ensure CPI targets are met and ensure the buyer is aware of any additional promotional activity in the market.
Qualifications
- Experience working with suppliers or within a commercial or buying team.
- Strong problem-solving skills, supported by creative, solution‑driven thinking.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash.
- Strong commercial awareness and a sense of customer needs.
- Good inter‑personal and communication skills, capable of working cross‑functionally to achieve the desired results.
