As part of our Product, Optimisation & Personalisation team, we use experimentation and continuous improvement to make our digital journeys easier, more personal and more effective for customers and colleagues. As an Assistant Product Owner, you will support the delivery of our Digital Product roadmap. Working closely with Product Owners, Optimisation Analysts, Designers and Engineers, you’ll help turn customer insights and hypotheses into well‑defined requirements and A/B test experiments that drive measurable improvements in customer experience and commercial performance. This is an entry‑level product role, designed to grow product capability while supporting hands‑on delivery within an established optimisation framework.
Responsibilities
- Product & Delivery Support
- Support the Product team in managing the functional product backlog, ensuring experiments, stories and tasks are clearly defined and prioritised
- Assist with writing user stories, acceptance criteria and experiment hypotheses aligned to product and business goals
- Help track the progress of experiments through delivery, analysis and learnings
- Optimisation & Experimentation
- Support the setup and delivery of A/B tests and personalisation experiments across web and digital journeys
- Work with analysts and designers to help translate insights, data and research into testable ideas
- Help document experiment outcomes, learnings and recommendations to drive continuous improvement
- Customer & Data Insight
- Assist in gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative data
- Help map customer journeys and identify friction points and optimisation opportunities
- Develop a strong understanding of customer needs and behaviours across digital touchpoints
- Ways of Working
- Participate in agile ceremonies including stand‑ups, planning, retrospectives and showcases
- Collaborate day‑to‑day with cross‑functional partners
- Support preparation of materials for stakeholder updates, sprint reviews and product read‑outs
- Actively develop product management skills, optimisation knowledge and commercial awareness
- Learn and apply experimentation best practices, CRO methodologies and product discovery techniques
- Build confidence working within a product‑led, data‑driven environment
Qualifications
- Strong interest in digital products, user experience & optimisation
- Experience of product delivery, digital, analytics or experimentation
- Analytical mindset with an interest in using data to inform decisions
- Clear communicator with good collaboration skills
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
Desirable
- Retail / online background is desirable
- Exposure to checkouts & payment platforms (end‑to‑end understanding of cart, payment, flow and reconciliation)
- Fraud‑management experience (identifying & mitigating transactional risk)
