Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast-paced team, working hand in hand with the senior GTM Manager, building strong relationships with our biggest suppliers and working closely with all other functions across the business to help Currys to build, plan and execute the customer and commercial strategy and develop our business for future growth.
You will be working in the New Business squad, and your role will be pivotal in our mission to help our customers learn the new and exciting ranges at Currys, through innovative campaigns & best in class execution. This exciting role within the commercial team reports to the Senior GTM Manager; you will be accountable for supporting the Senior GTM Manager develop the blueprint for New Business (likely to be one to three each year). Combining customer and competitor insight along with financial imperatives to ensure the category squad develops a strategy to both maximise CSAT and EBIT. The role will act as a lynchpin between all functional representatives in the squad and beyond, pulling together annual, quarterly and in-season initiatives and activities to maximise performance. You will also arm the category buyer to negotiate adequate supplier funding support.
Role overview:
- Working with the customer insight team to ensure the squad adequately understands the category landscape, including customers, competitors, trends, financial performance, range performance, threats and opportunities, to support the development of the annual category strategy.
- Create the blueprint for the annual category strategy.
- Using insight, work with the buyer, planner, services and credit representatives to define annually the category ‘proposition’ – the best combination of range, price, availability, services and credit.
- Working with channel representatives and brand & marketing to define the right shopping journey in all channels, including training and engagement of customer facing colleagues in the category selling journey.
- Working with the central planning and brand & marketing function to develop in line with the annual events calendar the ‘Go to market’ strategy and plan for the category.
- Supporting the squad in landing all major initiatives, including major new product launches.
- Be the champion for delivering great customer experiences in all channels.
- Bringing appropriate analytics and insight from the online and customer team to support decision making related to day-to-day trading, events and promotions.
- Working with the Senior E-commerce Manager to understand category KPI dashboard and reporting metrics.
- Co-ordinating responses to major marketing briefs across the category in appropriate templates.
- Be the go-to person from all parts of the business to coordinate the customer experience activities that need to be developed.
- Work with peer groups to lead cross-functional delivery for all things related to customer journey for your Head of Category.
You will need:
- Negotiation skills and ability to manage all supplier partnerships.
- Strong influencing skills and ability to manage several different stakeholders, at all levels, to deliver plans.
- Good numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash.
- Detail-oriented problem-solving skills.
- Good working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as MS Office workflow tools.
- Customer champion with excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs.
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent in relevant field.
- Buying/Marketing Experience.
