Position Overview: The Van Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of aerospace components, materials, and documentation between company facilities, suppliers, and customers. The role supports manufacturing operations by ensuring that critical parts and equipment are delivered securely, accurately, and in compliance with company quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate company vans to transport aerospace components, tooling, materials, and documentation between manufacturing sites, suppliers, and customers.
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed on schedule to support production timelines.
- Load and unload materials carefully, ensuring components are protected from damage and handled in accordance with aerospace handling procedures.
- Verify delivery documentation, part numbers, and quantities to ensure accuracy before transport and upon delivery.
- Maintain clear communication with the production team regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Adhere to all company quality procedures, including traceability and handling requirements for aerospace parts.
- Complete delivery logs, vehicle checklists, and required documentation accurately and promptly.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues or safety concerns immediately.
- Ensure compliance with all road safety regulations and company health and safety policies.
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude when representing the company at external sites.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid UK driving licence with an acceptable driving record.
- Drivers must meet the requirements of the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
- Previous experience as a delivery or van driver preferred but not essential.
- Ability to lift and move materials safely (manual handling training will be provided where required).
- Basic understanding of delivery documentation and logistics processes.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Experience working in aerospace, manufacturing, or engineering environments (desirable).
- Familiarity with handling high-value or precision components (desirable).
- Basic warehouse or inventory experience (desirable).
Working Pattern: Full Time (38 hours p/w) with flexible start/finish times. Occasional overtime may be required to meet production demands, in line with company policy.
