Would you like to develop a career in Customs clearance and work at our office in Hythe, Kent? You might be newly qualified looking for your first career opportunity or in an existing admin role and wanting to take on a new challenge. We are keen to talk to people who are comfortable working with computers, are good with figures and can take on board the complex rules that involve clearing goods through Customs.

The ideal candidate will preferably be from the customs clearance industry or has previously worked in the industry. Good computer skills are required and the ability to liaise with our customers in a professional way, both written and verbally, whilst working as part of a team, in a busy office environment.

Following completion of your training period, the core hours will be Monday - Friday 09:00-17:00 HRS with some shift working between 07:00 HRS & 18:00 HRS, and some weekend call outs (1 in 4) once training has been completed. Due to our location, own transport will be required.

Main tasks of the role include:

  • Liaise with customers and colleagues to ensure smooth processing of import/export shipments.
  • Collate and verify customer shipment information regarding customs declarations.
  • Submit customs declarations on our customers' behalf using both internal and external software systems.
  • Check and monitor all declarations and shipment movements until shipment is delivered.
  • Verify correct discharge of customs documents at country of destination.
  • Collate copies of all relevant documentation on all undischarged shipments to allow for further investigation by a Supervisor/Manager.
  • General filing/housekeeping tasks.

The ability to work swiftly and accurately are a must.
