The role – what is it we would like you to do?

Currie & Brown is seeking ambitious, highly motivated Commercial Managers / Senior Commercial Managers to work on infrastructure commissions for clients.

Applicants should be experienced in delivering major infrastructure projects, with a background in highways, heavy and light rail, utilities or other civil engineering delivery. Knowledge and experience of NEC3 / NR contracts suite is desirable.

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to support project leaders in maintaining high standards of service delivery in a challenging and fast‑moving environment, while achieving successful outcomes for our clients.

With an eye on future development, we anticipate candidates would bring a proactive approach to learning through capturing and sharing knowledge across projects; real engagement in our commitment to our culture of equality, diversity and innovation; and an ambition to reinforce our reputation as a preferred service provider.

Your core duties will involve:

  • Providing accurate commercial and cost management advice and reporting to our clients
  • Leading or supporting the successful delivery of projects, and commissions
  • Setting objectives and priorities whether working independently or as a proactive team player
  • Effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects/commissions; liaising with other managers to ensure efficient financial control
  • Undertaking service delivery with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Delivering all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner
  • Providing commercial management support to the broader project team
  • Developing strong collaborative relationships with client and clients’ supply chain staff that will support the achievement of project goals
  • Negotiating and corresponding with clients
  • Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner

What skills and attributes are we looking for from you:

  • Relevant educational background including degree or apprenticeship
  • Professional institution membership (CICES, RICS, ICE, etc), qualified or working towards qualification
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant sectors
  • Technical delivery experience gained within civil engineering projects
  • Good technical writing, client‑facing and communication skills
  • Well‑organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well‑disciplined and commercially astute
  • A team player with a ‘can‑do’ attitude
