Currie & Brown is currently looking for an individual with either a design or building control background to deliver the Building Regulations Principal Designer and CDM Principal Designer role within our London project team. The successful candidate will ensure project compliance with the current building regulations, capture and share knowledge across projects, enhance our culture of innovation, and reinforce our reputation as a preferred service provider. The current team is known for its people‑focused culture, long‑standing client relationships, and integrated technical expertise. With continued plans for expansion, the organisation offers a dynamic and collaborative environment with a strong commitment to the individual’s career progression.
Core duties will involve:
- Complying with the responsibilities of the Principal Designer under the Building Regulations and CDM Regulations 2015
- Lead all Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) commissions, including resource coordination, fee management, and reporting to the Director of Health & Safety
- Review and comment on design risk and compliance documentation
- Produce, review, and update compliance risk registers and project coordination records
- Support clients with competence declarations
- Oversee reviews of full design packages, coordinating technical input from internal specialists and identifying Building Regulations compliance issues
- Assist in producing Building Regulations conformance statements and fulfilling BRPD statutory duties
- Determine involvement during construction, including inspections, information requirements, and Principal Contractor liaison
- Conduct periodic site inspections as required
- Coordinate review of design changes that may impact Building Regulations or CDM compliance
- Ensure required documentation is uploaded to agreed client information platforms
