Currie & Brown is seeking a motivated and experienced Associate / Associate Director to join our project management team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality projects for our clients while helping to shape the future growth of our regional business.
In this pivotal position, you’ll support our project leaders, deliver successful outcomes for clients, and contribute to a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement. This role offers a clear development pathway toward future Director opportunities.
As an Associate Project Manager, you will manage and deliver a wide range of project and programme management services, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, profitably, and to the highest professional standard. You will take responsibility for leading projects, supporting the wider PM team, developing junior colleagues, and strengthening client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver projects and professional commissions from inception to completion
- Lead multiple projects as the primary project manager
- Maintain clear and effective communication across project teams
- Manage client and project teams to deliver services on time and within budget
- Undertake site visits, surveys, and meetings with contractors, clients, and stakeholders
- Produce accurate and timely project outputs, reporting, and documentation
- Build strong, professional relationships with clients through effective communication and delivery
- Mentor and support junior staff, helping them progress toward RICS or equivalent chartership
- Contribute to business development activities and help generate new opportunities
- Support the Northern Head of Project Management with day-to-day team operations
- Manage project finances, including forecasting, reporting, and fee management
- Prepare proposal content and support bid submissions
- Lead multidisciplinary consultant teams on a range of construction projects
- Monitor project performance, proactively managing risks and taking corrective action where required
- Establish strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring requirements and approvals are fully captured
- Oversee end-to-end project execution, ensuring all goals and deliverables are defined and achieved
- Coordinate design, development, construction, commissioning, and technical inputs using internal SMEs
- Manage change control processes in line with client requirements through to successful handover
- Report on cost, programme, health and safety, and project performance using appropriate tools
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in project management, construction management, building surveying, engineering, or equivalent
- Chartered status (MRICS, MCIOB, MAPM) or membership of an equivalent professional body
- Minimum five years’ project delivery experience within a consultancy or contractor environment
- Experience in pre- and post-contract services and reporting to external clients
- Proficiency with estimating software, including BIM-linked tools
- Strong written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills
- Well-organised, proactive, commercially aware, and able to manage competing priorities
- A collaborative team player with a positive, professional, and flexible approach
Desirable Experience
- Previous line management experience and ability to delegate effectively
- Programming/scheduling skills (MS Project, ASTA, or equivalent)
- Design management experience
- Project financial management and cash flow forecasting
- Familiarity with NEC and JCT forms of contract
- Broad experience across capital and revenue projects
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (particularly APM)
- Ability to run projects independently with minimal senior oversight
