The Role β What is it we would like you to do?
We seek a Business Case Specialist to join our Healthcare Advisory team. You\’ll contribute to hospital redevelopment projects, leading NHS business case preparations at all stages. Our team collaborates closely with clinical, design, estates, and strategic teams to ensure well-grounded, robust, and deliverable business cases.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading drafting and coordination of NHS business cases (SOC, OBC, FBC), ensuring HM Treasury Green Book compliance.
- Supporting NHS investment decisions by delivering quality business cases on time.
- Providing strategic consultancy to NHS clients, focusing on business cases.
- Building client relationships and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Shaping the strategic investment case based on clinical, population, and service needs.
- Developing economic appraisals and working with finance and technical teams.
- Embedding within client programmes to ensure content reflects strategies and assumptions are consistent.
- Supporting clients through assurance processes, including NHS England, ICB, and DHSC approvals.
- Maintaining knowledge of NHS policies, infrastructure programmes, and funding frameworks.
- Mentoring junior colleagues on business case methodology and health capital investment planning.
Requirements:
- Experience leading or contributing to NHS business cases aligned to HM Treasury Green Book.
- Better Business Case trained (preferably at practitioner level).
- Strong understanding of NHS capital investment processes.
- Ability to integrate clinical, operational, digital, estates, and financial inputs into compelling narratives.
- Skilled in economic appraisal methods within healthcare infrastructure planning.
- Experience working with stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams on large health programmes.
- Excellent writing skills to produce accessible, persuasive content.
- Awareness of NHS policies, including the Long Term Plan and ICS priorities.
