Currie & Brown is looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Associate / Associate Director Building Surveying to join our growing Jersey team. For the right individual, we would also consider appointment at Director level.
This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role within a high-performing team, delivering a diverse range of professional and project-based building surveying services across both public and private sector clients. You will play a key role in driving business growth, developing client relationships, winning new work, and helping shape the future of our building surveying offering in Jersey.
The role offers exposure to a broad spectrum of services, including design and specification, contract administration, clerk of works duties, building surveys, dilapidations, and project delivery across a variety of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of building surveying commissions and professional instructions from inception through to completion.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for future work and contributing to business growth.
- Support business development activities through networking, client engagement, and the preparation of high-quality bids and proposals.
- Manage projects and project teams, ensuring successful delivery to programme, budget, and quality expectations.
- Provide expert professional advice across a range of building surveying disciplines.
- Undertake site inspections, condition surveys, and project reviews, liaising with clients, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders as required.
- Monitor project performance, ensuring effective communication, commercial management, and financial control throughout delivery.
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior building surveyors, fostering technical excellence and professional growth within the team.
- Represent Currie & Brown professionally in client meetings, negotiations, presentations, and business development activities.
About You
You will be an experienced building surveyor with a proven track record of delivering professional and project-based services, managing client relationships, and supporting business development activities. You will combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and a collaborative leadership style.
- Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
- MRICS qualified (or working towards chartership with a clear pathway and demonstrable experience).
- Strong technical knowledge across both professional and project building surveying services.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and client-facing presentations.
- Experience leading projects and managing client relationships.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software, including AutoCAD, NBS, MS Project and Microsoft Office.
