Currie & Brown is seeking an ambitious, highly motivated Estimators (All Levels) to work on infrastructure commissions for our clients across London. Over recent months, Currie & Brown has been successful in expanding our portfolio of infrastructure delivery commissions by securing a number of valuable and prestigious engagements, and we are currently looking to make contact with experienced enthusiastic professionals to join our infrastructure team.
Currie & Brown requires capable and experienced estimators with Rail and Aviation experience. The successful candidate's commercial skills will support the current team structure in order to meet the volume of workload, supplement current expertise and deliver consistent cost planning and estimating service activity.
Responsibilities will include:
- Producing accurate cost estimates reflecting the project scope and timescales, to a consistent format and quality
- Enabling project costs and performance to be more reliably compared and benchmarked
- Accurately validating suppliers' and contractors' cost estimates
- Providing efficient tools and processes that enable timely and consistent production of estimates to a common standard
- Producing estimate reports
- Preparing cost estimates during the execution phase to validate contractors' cost forecasts and contract changes
- Providing specialist cost planning and estimating services in accordance with our rail clients' governance and assurance procedures; this may require the estimate report and estimate to be presented to the client as part of the governance sign-off process
- Supporting budget development, investment authorisation and cost reconciliation
Requirements:
- BSc in quantity surveying or equivalent
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or equivalent
- Technical delivery experience in the provision of estimating and/or QS services
- Extensive rail, highways or utilities sector experience
- Pre-contract experience
- Understanding of project management, planning, risk and investment processes
- Working knowledge of cost planning techniques for the financial control of projects during design development stages
- Proficient in the use of unit cost modelling tools
- Good technical writing, client-facing and communication skills
- Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
- A team player with a 'can-do' attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful and flexible
