About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Director to be a visionary leader responsible for the profile, promotion and development of the Cost Management team across the North of England including driving innovation, collaboration, and excellence. This is a senior leadership role with full P&L accountability, combining strategic direction with visible, hands-on leadership. You will lead high-performing teams across the region, strengthen client relationships, drive sustainable growth and ensure consistently excellent project delivery.
Working closely with the North Sub Region Lead and other service Directors and Sector Leads, you will help build a joined-up, high-performing business that delivers for clients and creates an environment where our people can thrive.
KEY responsibilities:
- Commercial & Financial Leadership
- Ownership of service line budgets, forecasting and month-end processes
- Driving profitability, utilisation, fee conversion and commercial governance
- Providing clear, accurate reporting on performance, risks and corrective actions
- People leadership
- Resourcing, recruitment and capacity planning across the service line
- Leading, engaging and developing multi-disciplinary teams
- Supporting succession planning, progression and retention of key talent
- Operational excellence
- Upholding technical, delivery and quality standards across all projects
- Ensuring compliance with project governance, risk, HSEQ and quality processes
- Driving continuous improvement in systems, tools and client experience
- Client & growth
- Ownership of a 12-18 month forward pipeline and workload visibility
- Supporting bids, frameworks and key pursuits in collaboration with Sector Leads
- Building strong client relationships that drive repeat work and referrals
- Collaborative leadership
- Partnering with Sub-Regional and Sector Leads to align service delivery and strategy
- Championing a one-business, inclusive culture across regions and disciplines
Essential requirements:
- Proven track record in the local market coupled with significant experience in a senior leadership role within a consultancy or professional services environment
- Strong commercial and financial management experience, including budget ownership, forecasting, WIP and financial reporting
- Proven track record of leading and developing teams within a multi-disciplinary environment
- Demonstrable experience in client relationship management, business development and tactical work-winning activity
- Sound working knowledge of project governance, risk management, quality assurance and HSEQ compliance
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to operate credibly at senior levels
- Flexibility and willingness to travel across offices and sites within the sub-region
